XOR Media (formerly SeaChange Broadcast) today announced that Omega Broadcast Pvt. Ltd. has chosen the XOR Media Universal MediaLibrary storage system and MediaServer 1200 standalone video server for the Indian broadcaster's latest news channel, 4 Real News. 4 Real News will be among the first news channels in India to broadcast full HD.

In the setup, two XOR MediaServer 1200 (MSV 1200) standalone video servers will serve to ingest 4 channels in HD as well as playout multi-channels in HD with up- conversion capabilities.

Central to Omega Broadcast's media tapeless workflow is the Universal MediaLibrary (UML) T-series, which will serve their production requirements with its scalable 72TB storage capacity and edit-in-place capabilities. The UML uniquely supports simultaneous access to all files via both NAS and SAN, without reconfigurations or gateways. The UML shall be connected by iSCSI to 12 Apple Final Cut Pro editors and allowing direct block-based level access for edit-in-place all ingested media.

Yash Meta, chief executive officer of Omega Broadcast, said, "The launch of 4 Real News is, in fact, a headliner for us as a broadcaster. We like to be ahead of the times in content and in the technology that we use in providing quality programming to our customers. XOR Media's UML storage and MSV codecs are powerful and scalable, so they help strengthen our position now and at the same time they get us ready for future customer demands and requirements."

Stephane Jauroyou, vice president for worldwide sales, XOR Media, said, "Many broadcasters now rely on the scalable UML for their tapeless workflows and using MSV edge playout servers for maximum flexibility on air. Both the UML and the MSV are perfectly suitable in various media workflows, the UML serving as central storage with its simultaneous NAS and SAN capabilities, giving our clients a good handle on how they want to build their infrastructure today, and how big and how fast they want to scale tomorrow."

XOR Media will showcase these flexible and scalable technologies at BroadcastAsia 2012 from June 19-22.
